Indian water infrastructure company Electrosteel Castings recently set up a warehouse in Bahrain.

The $6.6 million facility will serve as a regional hub for sales and distribution activities related to water projects in northern Middle East markets.

“The business of distributing our products is very logistically demanding and there is a high cost involved with transporting huge volumes of cargo,” Electrosteel Director M.K. Jalan said. “We chose Bahrain as a center for our northern Middle Eastern sales activities because of its strategic location at the heart of this marke, and for its strong transport network and infrastructure that link Bahrain to other countries in the region.”

Electrosteel, the third largest producer of ductile iron pipes and ancillary products in the world, received support and advice from the Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB) throughout the registration and setup of the warehouse.

“Electrosteel’s announcement reflects the growing investment by Indian firms in Bahrain and the efforts being made by these companies to take advantage of the growing demand within the larger region,” EDB Chief Executive Khalid Al Rumaihi said.

Last November, Indian aluminum casting and alloy wheels manufacturer Synergies Castings signed an agreement with Mumtalakat Holding Company to build a manufacturing facility in Bahrain.
