Ion Exchange, an India-based company that is one of the largest providers of environment solutions in Asia, has announced the opening of a new chemical facility in Bahrain.

Ion will expand into Bahrain so it can enhance the products and services it currently offers in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region, which includes Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The new facility will be built in the Bahrain Investment Wharf and will act as the export hub for chemicals for the surrounding regions and the North Arab states. Over the next three years, 30 jobs will be created. Ion Exchange was assisted with company setup and various other business requirements by the Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB), which gives advice and practical help to companies seeking to establish themselves in Bahrain.

In recent years, the GCC has experienced a rapid increase in demographic growth and economic expansion. This has caused a very high demand for water treatment technology and additional services. Ion Exchange has specialized in these types of services for 50 years. It provides a complete array of solutions regarding industrial, institutional, residential, home, rural and urban developments. Ion has a worldwide presence with plants in the Middle East, South East Asia, Africa, Canada and the United States.
