Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture issued the following announcement on March 8.

Egyptian exports to the five largest countries in the world during 2017 reached $9.624bn, accounting for 37.3% of total Egyptian exports to the world, which amount to $25.8bn, according to the Egyptian Foreign Trade Bulletin issued by the Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS).

The report showed that the UAE ranked first among these countries, where Egyptian exports to the Emirates in 2017 reached $2.72bn, including pearls worth $1.6bm. electric machines and equipment worth $255.8m, vegetables and plants worth $70m, fruits worth $65.1m, and furniture worth $52.1m.

Italy came in second place, with total Egyptian exports of $2.182bn, including fuel and mineral oil worth $977.9m, aluminium and its derivatives worth $269.9m, fertilisers worth $83m, cotton worth $82.3m, and plastics worth $80.8m.

CAPMAS said that Turkey came in third, with $1.858bn of exports, including fertilisers at $359.9m, plastics at $338.3m, cotton at $147.4m, organic chemicals at $97.5m, and inorganic chemicals at $87.5m.

Saudi Arabia ranked fourth, where the total Egyptian exports to the kingdom reached $1.543bn, including $172.7m worth of fruits, $162.4m worth of vegetables and plants, $96m worth of iron and steel, $169.3m worth of electric appliances, and $41.4m worth of pharmaceuticals.

Finally, United States came in the fifth place, with total Egyptian exports of $1.320bn, including crochet garments worth $404m, garments worth $267.8m, carpets and floor accounting for $117.1m, iron and steel worth $102.8m, and vegetables and fruits worth $30.6m.
