The Italian Trade Agency (ITA) is marking its 12th year of participation at the Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX), an event organized by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA). The agency will lead a pavilion featuring 50 Italian exhibitors over 600 square metres at WETEX 2025, scheduled for September 30 to October 2 at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The group includes start-ups and innovators from Italy’s energy, water, and sustainability sectors.

According to ITA, this ongoing involvement reflects its mission to help Italian businesses form partnerships in the region and support the United Arab Emirates’ sustainable development goals.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA and Founder and Chairman of WETEX, said: “The UAE and Italy enjoy strong, strategic relations built on long-standing ties and a shared vision for global progress. Since being elevated to a strategic partnership in 2023, this relationship has grown significantly. Non-oil bilateral trade between the two countries reached $14.1 billion in 2024, a 21% increase compared to 2023. Both countries collaborate closely on energy, sustainability, artificial intelligence, space exploration and international development. We value the continued participation of Italian companies at WETEX over the past 12 years and are proud that leading Italian firms view the exhibition as a key platform to showcase innovation, sign deals, explore investment opportunities in the UAE and the region, and build strong business partnerships.”

HE Lorenzo Fanara, Ambassador of Italy to the UAE, stated: “WETEX offers a key platform to showcase Italy’s cutting-edge technologies in renewable energy, water management and environmental innovation. With 50 Italian exhibitors and 600 square metres of dedicated space at this year’s edition, our participation reflects both the depth of Italian expertise and the strength of our bilateral relations with the UAE. Events like WETEX are essential to fostering new industrial partnerships, supporting Italian SMEs in the region and contributing to the UAE’s vision for a sustainable, innovation-driven economy.”

Mr Valerio Soldani, Italian Trade Commissioner at ITA – Dubai Office added: “WETEX remains a cornerstone of our mission to elevate Italian innovation on a global scale. By facilitating impactful business connections and amplifying Italy’s role in the clean energy transition, ITA helps turn opportunity into long-term success for our companies.”

ITA considers WETEX central to its strategy for expanding into Middle Eastern markets. The agency says that through meetings with both government entities (B2G) and other businesses (B2B), participating Italian companies have secured valuable leads and formed local partnerships with organizations such as DEWA.

For firms specializing in solar energy, water management or clean technologies, WETEX provides access not only to greater brand visibility but also opportunities for direct engagement with buyers from government institutions across the Gulf Cooperation Council region.
