Global luxury hospitality firm Jumeirah Group, a part of Dubai Holding, this week signed a deal to operate RP Global’s super-skyscraper under construction in Dubai’s Business Bay, which will be home to a mixed-use hotel development.

The $1 billion tower will be Dubai’s second tallest after the Burj Khalifa. It is being built by United Arab Emirates-based property investment company RP Global as a mixed-use development with 3 million square feet of interior space and spectacular views of downtown Dubai.

Developments in the tower will include a 200-room five-star luxury Jumeirah hotel as well as 350 serviced apartments and 290 well-appointed residences.

RP Global hired renowned architectural firm Atkins Global to design the building. The new Business Bay tower is envisioned as a luxury urban resort destination, which includes extensive food and beverage options, a spa and health club, and conference and banquet facilities. The building also will have a dynamic open air, rooftop sky terrace.

The tower and the Jumeirah offerings to be housed inside will be built in the heart of Business Bay parallel to Sheikh Zayed Road and is expected to open in 2020.

Ravi Pillai, RP Group’s chairman, said he looks forward to working with Jumierah Group and the company’s CEO Gerald Lawless.

“We are investing close to $1 billion of our own resources into Dubai’s real estate sector to develop a world-class tower that will be operated by the esteemed luxury hospitality brand, Jumeirah Group,” Pillai said. “RP Global is committed to superior quality and timely delivery; and like the Jumeirah Group, we strive to create well designed, innovative lifestyle concepts for our buyers.”
