Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, chaired a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) Board of Directors at the company’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi on May 15.

The meeting addressed ADNOC’s ongoing efforts to maintain safe operations while ensuring reliable energy supply to both local and international customers. Sheikh Khaled commended the company for its resilience in these areas.

During the session, updates were provided on ADNOC’s new West-East Pipeline project. The pipeline is currently under construction and is expected to double export capacity through Fujairah when it becomes operational in 2027. Sheikh Khaled directed ADNOC to accelerate delivery as part of broader efforts to meet global energy demand.

The committee also reviewed progress on key growth projects, including development within TA’ZIZ Phase 1 chemicals ecosystem at Al Ruwais Industrial City in Al Dhafra Region. This initiative aims to create new domestic value chains and will produce up to 4.7 million tonnes per annum of industrial chemicals by the end of 2028, making it one of the largest integrated chemical platforms in the Gulf region. Agreements announced at Make it in the Emirates 2026 and partnerships with Alpha Dhabi for feasibility studies were highlighted as important steps forward.

Sheikh Khaled reiterated support for ADNOC’s In-Country Value programme, emphasizing its role in fostering opportunities for local businesses and manufacturers. He directed that Made in the Emirates products be prioritized across all projects and operations.

Other attendees included Dr Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and ADNOC Managing Director and Group CEO; Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure; Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of Health and Prevention; Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Managing Director and Group CEO of Mubadala Investment Company; and Jassem Mohamed Bu Ataba Al Zaabi, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Department of Finance.
