Khalifa University was rated the top UAE educational institution in the QS World University Rankings for 2016-17.
Each year, independent company QS ranks universities around the world based on academic reputation, faculty-to-student ratio, citations per faculty member, employer reputation and the number of international faculty members and students.
Khalifa University was ranked among the top 410 universities in the world and the highest among six universities in the UAE. The other UAE universities, in descending order, were United Arab Emirates University, American University of Sharjah, American University in Dubai, University of Sharjah and Abu Dhabi University.
“This is a major milestone in Khalifa University’s journey,” Khalifa University Board Chairman Sheikh Hamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan said. “This institution was able to achieve this prestigious ranking in less than 10 years of its age.”
Since last year’s list, Khalifa University moved up 80 places in the international rankings. The science-focused institution had came in third place among UAE universities. Khalifa University achieved better rankings this year due to its high faculty-to-student ratio, faculty citations and academic reputation.
