Kuwait-Egypt council explores bilateral cooperation during Cairo visit

Ms. Shaikha Al-Bahar, Deputy Group CEO of the National Bank of Kuwait, joined the Egyptian-Kuwaiti Cooperation Council’s visit to Cairo. The purpose of this visit was to explore ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation and discover new opportunities in various sectors.

The Kuwaiti delegation was led by Mr. Mohammed Al-Sager, Head of the Egyptian-Kuwaiti Cooperation Council, and included senior representatives from major Kuwaiti banks and corporations. They were welcomed by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi at the Presidential Palace in Cairo. President El-Sisi invited Kuwaiti investors to consider the opportunities in Egypt, highlighting incentives and facilities provided by the Egyptian government for developing industrial cooperation through strategic partnerships between Egyptian and Kuwaiti companies. He noted the significant potential of the Egyptian market with its expansive scale and growth prospects.

A meeting with Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly took place at the Government Headquarters in the New Administrative Capital. Key attendees included Eng. Hassan El-Khatib, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade; Ambassador Ghanem Saqr Al-Ghanem, Kuwait’s Ambassador to Egypt; and Ambassador Osama Shaltout, Egypt’s Ambassador to Kuwait.

Prime Minister Madbouly encouraged Kuwaiti investors to explore Egypt’s investment opportunities across various sectors, affirming that projects mutually agreed upon could receive a “Golden License” to streamline procedures. He expressed interest in partnerships with Kuwaiti investors and emphasized promising investment areas such as food security, oil and petrochemicals, logistics, tourism, and hospitality.

He also mentioned that economic reforms since March 2024 have strengthened Egypt’s foreign currency reserves due to a flexible exchange rate policy.

The delegation met with Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty who spoke about historic ties between Egypt and Kuwait while outlining recent economic reforms aimed at enhancing investment climate. Discussions also took place with Minister of Public Business Sector Eng. Mohamed Shemy and Minister of Labor Mohamed Jubran on strengthening business cooperation.

Additionally, they attended the Egyptian-Kuwaiti Investment and Business Forum alongside ministers and officials to discuss enhancing economic ties between both countries.
