When they install wind turbines in Kuwait, Gamesa will become the first company to do so in the nation.

The company recently inked a deal to provide 72.5 MW in three countries – Kuwait, Turkey and Cyprus. This will bring the number of countries with Gamesa turbines to 54.

This marks Kuwait Gamesa’s first order in this market: A deal to supply and install 10 MW (five G97-2.0 MW turbines) for Kuwait’s first wind farm, which is being developed through a joint of Elecnor and local partner Alghanim.

The wind farm is expected to be commissioned by the end of 2015.

In Turkey, Gamesa will supply, install and commission 40 MW for Ado Enerji at the Akyurt (seven G114-2.0 MW turbines), Konakpinari (seven G114-2.0 MW turbines) and Karaayir (six G114-2.0 MW turbines) wind farms.

Gamesa will also provide operations and maintenance services on all turbines for five years. The turbines will be outfitted with Gamesa’s MaxPower technology to up their nominal capacity from 2.0 MW to 2.1 MW, increasing these turbines’ output to 42 MW.

The turbines should be up and running in the second quarter of 2016; the facility is scheduled for completion during the third quarter of 2016.

Gamesa will also supply 12.5 MW of its G114-2.5 MW model to Kazanci Holding. These turbines are scheduled to be installed at the Data wind farm during the second quarter of 2016; this facility is also due to start up during the third quarter.

This order will be the debut of Gamesa’s G114-2.5 MW turbine into this market.

Cyprus Aeoliki Akti has ordered 10 MW (five G114-2.0 MW turbines) for the Sanida Kelaki wind farm. These turbines should be delivered in the spring of 2016; the facility is scheduled to be finished by the third quarter of 2016.
