Gulf Holding Company (GHC), the Shariah-compliant real estate investment company, recently appointed Majed Al Khan as CEO of the company and the head of the Villamar development in Bahrain.

Al Khan will be focused on delivering Villamar, the luxury mixed-use residential project in the Bahrain Financial Harbor. The project was previously so mired in delays work had stopped completely until recently.

Al Khan has more than 15 years of experience in the real estate sector, project development and investments. He was previously the deputy CEO and head of investments at Al-Khaleej Development Company B.S.C., the Bahraini real estate investment company. He also served as head of investments at CAPIVEST, and as a board member in several leading real estate development and private equity companies.

GHC’s Chairman Hisham Alrayes said Al Khan’s extensive experience and good connections in the real estate investment sector make him the man to get Villamar back on track.

“One of the key responsibilities of Mr. Al Khan includes the reactivation of construction work on the Villamar project, which is one of the landmark real estate projects in the Kingdom of Bahrain,” Alrayes said. “He will also oversee the reorganization and restructuring of GHC so that it can realize its objectives of becoming one of the major real estate developers in the Kingdom of Bahrain and broader [Gulf Cooperation Council] region.”

For his part, Al Khan said he’s looking forward to the challenge.

“I appreciate the commitment of the board of directors to supporting the completion of this project, and re-establishing GHC as a key player in the Bahraini and regional real estate development market,” Al Khan said.
