Mashreq, the Dubai-based bank, recently launched the United Arab Emirates financial sector’s first initiative for sales integrity and ethics.

Mashreq’s corporate learning institute is working with the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI) to develop skills in banking integrity and ethics for 2,500 retail banking employees.

Mashreq started training the first 250 employees at the beginning of June. They will be responsible for passing the knowledge on to the rest of the bank’s workforce.

“This partnership with CISI complements our existing internal training seminars, and further expands and enhances our abilities to ensure that high levels of professional services are observed in our deliveries to customers,” R.Yuvakumar, head of Mashreq Learning Systems, said. ”We continue to invest in the strongest asset of Mashreq – our people – and further increase their levels of learning to be able to serve the customers even better.”

The ethics training program is approximately two hours long, and provides interactive activities focusing on business challenges and dilemmas that are intended to give participants an understanding of ethics and integrity in a range of scenarios drawn from real-life industry situations.

After the program, Mashreq employees will take an online test by CISI to be certified.

“The core of any business is the strength of its team and their ability to deliver world class service,” the company’s head of retail banking Farhad Irani said. “At Mashreq, we are proud to have high caliber of individuals that truly reflect on the organization’s vision to make it possible for customers’ day in and day out.”
