Milrem, an Estonian defense company, recently partnered with Raytheon UK, Advanced Electronics Company and IGG Eselsan
Systems to deploy the company’s modular hybrid unmanned ground vehicle
Themis in the Middle East and North Africa region.

“The
success of Milrem solutions in the Middle East, Asia and the U.S. is a big
proof that research and development in a small country like Estonia is very
possible and at a very high level,” Margus Tsahkna, Estonia’s defense minister, said.

During a
ceremonial unveiling, the companies showcased the joint product of IGG Aselsan
and Milrem, which features Aselsan’s SARP remote weapons station. Themis is
designed to carry a police team, up to 750 kilogram in weight and drive
for 10 hours on one tank of fuel. It can also be used as a medevac,
UAV platform for landing and charging and a sensor array.

“Represented
are three stands with three different companies [which] shows exactly how adaptable the
first fully modular hybrid unmanned ground vehicle Themis [is],” Kuldar
Väärsi, CEO at Milrem, said. “One platform can be equipped
with specific loads required for the armies of the region.”
