EMEA Finance named the National Bank of Fujairah (NBF) the UAE’s top local bank at the magazine’s Middle East Banking Awards.

NBF won the Best Local Bank UAE award because of the financial institution’s firm standing as a regional business bank, the magazine said.

The annual banking awards ceremony is held by EMEA Finance, a regional financial magazine specializing in debt and equity markets, new financial deals and transactional banking. This is the eighth year for the the EMEA Finance awards, which have come to set a benchmark for awarding top performers in the Middle East’s finacial industry.

EMEA Finance cited NBF’s growing international profile as well as consistent growth and top notch commercial banking services as the driving factors behind the magazine’s decision.

EMEA Finance publisher and CEO Christopher Moore said those factors were among many that show NBF has earned the award.

“The bank’s initiatives to operate at the highest standards in governance, risk management and in the human resources areas are laudable,” Moore said. “NBF’s

efforts to broaden its corporate customer base, like the launch of NBF Elham, a unit dedicated to supporting Emirati businesswomen and entrepreneurs, its newly established corporate advisory NBF Capital and the successful launch of NBF Islamic, exemplify the bank’s ambition, which itself is a positive reflection of the larger aspirations and vision of the UAE.”
