Oman Air and Air France Industries (AFI) KLM Engineering and Maintenance announced an exclusive agreement Thursday that will provide Oman Air’s Boeing 737NG fleet with flight-hour engine support.

Oman Air officials said AFI KLM Engineering and Maintenance emerged from the bidding process as the best overall offer.

“AFI KLM E&M is globally recognized for their highly professional services,” Oman Air CEO Paul Gregorowitsch said. “Teaming up with them reflects the high standards of quality Oman Air stands for. The long-term contract will help us to deliver smooth operations and will support us in maintaining our excellent record for safety, reliability and on-time performance. Our decision was reached after AFI KLM E&M was able to make an attractive offer in terms of both quality and price, bringing the value of the contract to several hundred million USD.”

KLM officials celebrated the contract as a statement of trust in their company’s expertise and quality of services.

“The airline was won over by our extensive expertise on the best-selling CFM56-7 engine,” KLM E&M Executive Vice President Ton Dortmans said. “This engine and its close relative the -5B are high-quality assets, and AFI KLM E&M is the reliable choice when it comes to these narrow body products.”

Oman Air is the national airline of Oman. Founded in 1993, the airline operates flights to 50 destinations around the world with a fleet of 40 aircraft.
