The Oman Ministry of Tourism recently launched a mobile tourist vehicle project at Port of Salalah in an effort to develop small and medium businesses that add to the growth of tourist sites in the sultanate.

The project will involve seven vehicles offering mobile tourist services. Two vehicles are designed to promote and sell traditional craft projects, two vehicles will sell Omani food and meals, two vehicles will sell fruit juices and one vehicle will provide information and tourism services to visitors.

The vehicles will be used at the Salalah port during the cruise ship season as well as at numerous tourist sites throughout the Khareef season.

The ministry said funding from the Salalah Methanol Company helped initiate the program. In addition, the ministry collaborated with the Public Authority for the Development of Small and Medium Enterprises, ‘Riyada,’ Salalah port and Al Raffd Fund to expand tourism initiatives to the region.
