Oman’s Ministry of Tourism is making a splash at the biggest tourism expo on the planet with the World Travel Market from Nov. 2 to Nov. 5 in London.

The annual event is the premier global travel industry event, where industry stakeholders gather to promote the latest in travel destinations, amenities and services. Oman’s delegation is headed up this year by Ministry of Tourism Undersecretary Maitha Al Mahrouqi.

Al Mahrouqi has been welcoming guests to the Oman pavilion at the expo, inviting them to experience the great travel opportunities offered by the Gulf nation. She also encouraged Oman’s private sector stakeholders present at the expo to take the lead on developing the country’s tourism infrastructure.

Not only is tourism a great source of income for the diversifying Omani economy, but Al Mahrouqi said encouraging travelers to visit Oman also raises cultural awareness about the country. That could translate into more resources put toward conserving the culture and environment in the Sultanate.

Oman’s participation at the expo is helping to promote prominent tourism projects in the Sultanate, Al Mahrouqi said. It gives the Ministry of Tourism the ability to not only show off amenities to potential tourists but also to major industry players that might see investment opportunity in Oman’s travel market.
