Oman is kicking off a celebration at the World Travel Market (WTM) exhibition in London recognizing the great strides made the sultanate’s tourism industry since Sultan Qaboos bin Said took the throne 45 years ago.

The Gulf nation now boasts impressive tourism infrastructure including world class hotels, cruises and adventure desert travel. Oman is also in the midst of major airport renovations and expansions to better serve the influx of new travellers.

Oman’s undersecretary of the Ministry of Tourism Maitha Al Mahrouqi will be joined at WTM by delegates from the ministry and  representatives from 24 companies working in Oman’s tourism industry.
The Omani delegation to WTM is particularly interested in highlighting the growth of the nation’s travel industry during the 45th anniversary of the ascent of bin Said, known as the country’s glorious Renaissance.

Since the beginning of bin Said’s rule in 1970, Oman has seen a radical transformation that has encouraged the growth of the country’s tourism sector. Oman now has a wide range of award-winning five-star and boutique hotels among traditional tourist offerings of Arab arts, crafts and history.

The Omani delegation will be at the World Travel Market exhibition Monday through Thursday in London.
