Ooredoo, headquartered in Qatar, has successfully completed its prelaunch phase for 4G mobile service in Algeria, becoming the first operator in the country to provide 4G.
Ooredoo now offers 4G services in eight markets in the Middle East, North Africa and Southeast Asia. This new network investment results in a better data experience for customers.
The prelaunch was conducted in Tlemcen Province in the northwestern part of Algeria. Ooredoo will roll out 4G service in all 48 provinces in the coming months.
Ooredoo Algeria conducted the trial phase with a preliminary licence from the Algeria Regulatory Authority for Post and Telecommunications. During the test, which was conducted with Nokia in presence of representatives from the Regulatory Authority, Ooredoo’s network reached speeds of up to 75 Mbps – the fastest speed thus far in Algeria.

After the official launch, customers will be able to access 4G speeds for the same price as the company’s 3G services. Customers will benefit from faster streaming and upload speeds as well as clear-sounding phone calls.
Ooredoo also launched 4G services in Myanmar in May and in Tunisia in April.
