According to a consumer confidence analysis by the Department of Economic Development (DED) in Dubai during the second quarter of 2016, consumers in Dubai appeared to be more optimistic about the overall state of the economy and job prospects compared to six other leading cities in the world - Tokyo, Milan, Paris, New York, Bangkok and London.

A VIP Centre recently opened at Dubai's Al Twar Centre to allow investors and businessmen to finalize their business registration as well as licensing progress at one location, saving them time and money by eliminating the need to visit various government offices and waiting in long lines. The goal is to improve Dubai’s standing as one of the best places to invest and do business.

The international technology giant IBM will provide its cognitive computing system, known as “Watson,” to Dubai’s Smart Government initiative. The technology will be provided to the Dubai Smart Government Department and the Dubai Department of Economic Development with the goal of transforming government services with smart technology. Watson was shown off at a press conference.
