Texas A&M University at Qatar Industrial and Systems Engineering Department Head Cesar Malave recently began his new role as dean of the educational institution. Malave has been tasked with leading the engineering-oriented Qatar branch campus, including overseeing academic, research and outreach programs. He was appointed to the position during the spring.

Three Texas A&M University at Qatar researchers have been awarded travel grants to share their research efforts through the Research Excellence Travel Grant Program. Imran Shafique Ansari, Sun Hee Yoon and Mostafa Shahin are the winners of $1,200 travel grants this quarter. The travel grants are an initiative of the Researcher Development Program.

Texas A&M University at Qatar and Maersk Oil Qatar recently released the first issue of Engineering Education Letters, a journal collecting articles on various engineering topics. The journal contains articles examining various teaching and learning techniques. Submissions are peer-reviewed and checked within a month and posted online as soon as they are approved.

Texas A&M University at Qatar (TAMUQ) recently was recognized with 23 awards from the Qatar National Research Fund's (QNRF) National Priorities Research Program (NPRP) at the seventh annual QNRF Research Forum in Doha. “Our research is contributing new knowledge, which is critical for the foundation of a knowledge-based economy,” Mark Weichold, dean and CEO of TAMUQ, said.
