Emirates Group, which includes Emirates airline and dnata, recently partnered with Carnegie Mellon University to form the CMU-Emirates Silicon Valley Innovation Lab. The lab aims to make Emirates and dnata the leading technology-enabled travel experience companies. The lab will focus on all areas of service and will also be used as a clearinghouse for ideas and new technology.

Emirates opened up a fourth route to Italy Tuesday with daily flights available from the airline’s hub in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to Bologna. The new route was celebrated with a traditional firehose shower as the first Emirates flight landed in Bologna, whose standing as a provincial capital is one of the world’s best-preserved medieval centers makes it a popular destination.

A new partnership between Emirates Airlines and Oxford University will evaluate new ways to predict demand as well as to optimize seating options across Emirates' global network. The collaboration will employ a group of top scientists, engineers, social scientists and domain experts from the airline and the university. Work will be conducted at the Oxford-Emirates Data Science Lab.
