More than 260 Chinese companies are set to participate in the upcoming Water, Energy and Environment Technology Exhibition (WETEX) 2025, according to an announcement from Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA). The exhibition, organised by DEWA, will be held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from September 30 to October 2, 2025. The Chinese exhibitors will be featured in a dedicated pavilion covering over 2,800 square metres. This represents the largest participation by Chinese companies in WETEX’s history.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of DEWA as well as Founder and Chairman of WETEX, highlighted the importance of this collaboration. “The UAE and the People’s Republic of China enjoy well-established strategic relations based on foundations of fruitful co-operation in the fields of economy, investment, energy and technology. Bilateral trade between the UAE and China reached US$102 billion in 2024, up 7% on the previous year. At DEWA, we have strategic partnerships with leading Chinese clean energy companies. This broad participation of Chinese companies in WETEX 2025 is in line with our efforts to strengthen the exhibition’s position as a leading global platform for displaying the most prominent innovations and technological solutions in the clean energy, water and sustainability sectors, in addition to supporting communication and exchange of expertise among the exhibitors and participants from around the world. The exhibition continues to establish partnerships that contribute to achieving the UAE Net Zero Strategy 2050, the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050,” said Al Tayer.

David Wang, Chairman of MIE Group—the organiser behind the Chinese pavilion—described WETEX as an important opportunity for businesses entering regional markets. “For Chinese enterprises, WETEX is more than just a trade show – it’s a strategic entry point into the MENA market. WETEX helps our exhibitors connect with the right partners, explore new opportunities and support the UAE’s bold vision for a sustainable future. Our role at WETEX 2025 is to empower innovation, strengthen trade and turn shared sustainability goals into real success stories.”

The event has historically served as a venue for introducing new technologies from China into Middle East and North Africa markets. In 2025, participating firms plan to showcase advancements such as solar power systems, smart energy management tools and innovative water management products designed for use across both arid regions and urban environments.

Vontron Technology will present its latest membrane products at this year’s event—including ultra-low pressure membranes for water treatment, seawater desalination membranes as well as advanced solutions like ZERO Liquid Discharge (ZLD) – ZERO Series and Helixfil Series reverse-osmosis membranes.

Mendy Zhao, Brand Manager of Vontron stated: “WETEX has always been a key platform for Vontron to demonstrate our technological excellence and commitment to sustainability. As we face growing global water challenges, our innovative membrane solutions are engineered not only to meet today’s needs but to lead the transition towards a cleaner, more efficient and circular water future. We are proud to work closely with governments and private sectors in the GCC to build more resilient and sustainable water infrastructure.”

Beijing OriginWater Technology (BOW), another major participant founded in Zhongguancun Science Park in 2001, will highlight its proprietary hollow fibre microfiltration membrane modules (RF Series), integrated membrane bio-reactor unit systems (MBRU), along with applications ranging from seawater desalination to industrial water reuse.

Suoding Li, Chief Scientist of Beijing OriginWater commented: “WETEX continues to be an essential platform for OriginWater to engage with regional leaders such as DEWA, municipalities and EPC contractors. We are not only showcasing our latest sustainable technologies but also gaining deep insights through market studies, competitor benchmarking and direct engagement with our target audience across the GCC and wider MENA region. We are proud to contribute to a future of clean water and resilient urban ecosystems through WETEX.”
