A delegation
representing Paraguay’s food and beverage sector recently met with the
Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce to discuss opportunities beneficial to both countries.

Gustavo
Leite, Paraguay’s minister of Industry and Commerce, met with Ibrahim
Al-Mahmoud, first deputy chairman of the Abu Dhabi chamber, and extended
an invitation for the group to visit Paraguay to see the investment
opportunities in the food and beverage industry as well as in
agriculture.

Al-Mahmoud
said that while trade between the countries has been poor, it does not
reflect the true interest the UAE has in Paraguayan investment.

“Such weak
numbers push us forward to spend more efforts towards achieving a wide leap in strengthening
economic and investment cooperation and increasing the volume of trade exchange
between the two friendly countries,” Al-Mahmoud said.

Al-Mahmoud said the UAE was keenly interested in ways the
Paraguayan food sector could enhance his country’s food production to
meet the growing demands of the marketplace.
