The Al Ruwais Port
development project remains a priority for the Ministry of Transport and
Communications, with the second stage of the project to be implemented soon.

The project, made of
three phases, aims to ensure the port functions in accordance with all
international standards. When the work is complete the basis and the quay
extension will be expanded, and the navigation channel and marine basins will
each be deepened by 10 meters at the conclusion of the third phase.

Emiri Decision No. 76
launched the first phase of Al Ruwais Port in 2014. The operating report
documents that the projects was to ease the entry and exit of vessels,
travelers, goods, and strengthen imports and exports between countries throughout
the area.

Phase one of Al Ruwais
Port development is designed for wooden ships and vessels for goods and
service. The second phase is geared towards implementing and managing the
commercial port, with the third and final phase centered on expanding and
deepening the basins.

Once complete, the Al
Ruwais Port — along with Doha Port — will serve as a major gateway to increased
commercial activity and entranceway to the rest of the world.
