The Dubai Men’s College recently hosted a Student Councils Forum titled Positive Patriotism…Progressive Patriotism, which drew students from various universities, colleges and institutes in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The forum’s patron was HH Lieutenant General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who is the deputy prime minister and minister of the interior. The meeting was also supported by the Watani Al Emarat Foundation and the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) in Dubai.

Mohammed Omran Al Shamesi, chairman of the HCT, said during a speech at the forum that serving the UAE homeland, and expressing loyalty to leadership and belonging to the nation has made the UAE a role model for the world.

During the Forum, HE Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim also emphasized that each citizen is measured according to his sense of belonging and loyalty. Any deviation from these senses are unacceptable to the UAE community. These standards keep the UAE as a leading example of cohesion and solidarity across the history of the Arab nations.

The lieutenant general encouraged citizens to fully know their country and sacrifice their own material belongings for it.

“A positive and progressive citizen is one who seeks to give more to his country without waiting for anything in return,” Tamim said.
