The Al Safwa First Lounge of Qatar Airways recently became the first airline lounge in the world to earn the Seven Star First Class Lounge Award.

The award, officially known as the
Signum Virtutis

(“Seal of Excellence”), was presented as part of the SevenStars Luxury Hospitality and Lifestyle Awards

in October 2016. It is meant to honor what are deemed the most luxurious properties in the world.

The Al Safwa First Lounge, located at Hamad International Airport in Qatar, offers a luxury spa, cinematic media room, relaxation room, exclusive family area, full business center, a la carte dining, and private rooms with a bed, bathroom, desk and TV. The lounge also features fine art installations and artifacts on loan from Doha’s national art museum.

“Qatar Airways is truly committed to creating the very best travel experiences, both in the air and on the ground,” Akbar Al Baker, the airline’s group chief executive, said. “This exclusive seal of excellence for the Seven Star First Class Lounge Award exemplifies the tireless effort that continually goes into the detail of service delivery and design to form the ultimate luxury experience that we provide our customers.”
