Proposals put forth by U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry for a permanent settlement to the Palestinian-Israel conflict fall in line with the Arab Peace Initiative, Qatar’s Foreign Ministry said recently.

Qatar approved the proposals and stressed its support for efforts to build peace and stability in the Middle East. It said the proposals are in keeping with the majority of international legitimacy resolutions.

The ministry reiterated its belief that there is a need to
establish an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as the capital. It referenced
the Arab Peace Initiative and various U.N. Security Council resolutions that echo that sentiment.
