Qatar’s Logistic Committee and the Qatar Chamber of Commerce have reached an agreement to protect the interests of the beneficiaries of land grants at the Birkat Al Awamir Logistic Area Project.

The project is the largest logistics and industrial project in the country’s south and is aimed at promoting competitiveness in the commercial sector while encouraging the private sector to contribute to the National Development Strategy in accordance with Qatar National Vision 2030.

The Birkat Al Awamir Logistics Area Project spreads over southern Al Wakra, Birkat Al Awamir and Aba Salil and includes warehousing facilities for cars, assembly units, cold storage, shops and showrooms, commercial offices, labor camps, workshops, service centers and depots.

To that end, the Logistics Committee is providing free building designs to developers to encourage development in the zone.

The Logistic Committee agreed with the Qatar Chamber on a number of provisions to solve issues land developers have faced in getting projects off the ground.

The two sides agreed to implement installment-based payments on allotment charges that can be paid in four quarterly installments. The first will be due Oct. 20 and the last will be due July 20, 2016. The committee also raised the upper limit for booking the land marked for allotment.
