The Qatar Ministry of Education recently detailed findings related to inclusion programs in public schools, including its determination that that students in these programs enjoy similar education to their peers.
Special-needs students entered
into inclusion programs do well in their studies, receiving grades on par
with their peers, the ministry said. Additionally, the students enjoy unprecedented e-learning
opportunities, including iPads and iPhones with programs that read text aloud to assist the blind. Visually impaired students can use
these tools to browse the internet and also connect the products to
electronic Braille programs.
Four independent schools offer inclusion programs and
integrate visually disabled students: Al-Yarmouk Preparatory School and
Khalifa Secondary School for boys and Roqayya Preparatory School and Al-Bayan Secondary School for girls.
