The inaugural Qatar International Medical Devices & Healthcare Exhibition and Conferences (QMED), hosted by the Qatar Supreme Council of Health, is slated for Dec. 2-4.

The event will take place at the new Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre (DECC), which is in the West Bay area of Doha.

More than 100 local and international companies are expected to participate.

Also assisting with the organization of QMED are representatives from Sogha Exhibitions and Conferences, and ExCo Media,  both based in London.

“The support of the Supreme Council of Health to QMED reflects the council’s strong commitment to the health sector, which is regarded as the pivot of social development,” Hamad Jassim Al-Hamar, director of the public relations department at the Qatar Supreme Council of Health, said. “The move forms part of the council’s keenness to open channels of communication between different players in the health sector, as part of its goal to upgrade the health sector as well as create a networking platform.”

Khalifa Al Mohannadi, Sogha Exhibitions and Conferences general manager, said the efforts of the Supreme Council of Health to address health and social issues in the country would go a long way toward guaranteeing the success of the QMED in the coming years.

Areas highlighted at the inaugural QMED will include the medical supplies industry, educational medicine sector and medical tourism as well as exhibition sections for diabetes, the dental field and critical health issues in Qatar and the Gulf Region.
