Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB) recently announced that its debit cards can
now be used, in addition to credit cards, for secure online purchases and
payments anywhere on the web.

QIB uses a 3-D secure feature that adds layers of security to internet-based credit and debit card purchases.

“As a leading card issuer in Qatar, we are constantly looking
for ways to enhance our products to provide new and unique services,” D. Anand, general manager for QIB’s Personal Banking Group, said. “Being able to use
their QIB debit cards online gives our customers more options for managing
their purchases and payments — and the peace of mind that their transactions
are always secure.”

QIB offers a VISA Electron card to all its customers.
Tamayuz members receive the Platinum MasterCard debit card and private banking
customers receive the World MasterCard debit card.

“On the subject of security, all our customers should be
also aware that QIB will never ask them to reply in an email with any personal
information such as their ID number, debit card and account details or any kind
of passwords and PINs,” Anand said.

Online credit card purchases with QIB credit cards were
first made possible in 2014.
