Pakistan is in line to start receiving a large supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) thanks to a recently formed coalition that includes Qatar
Petroleum (QP), Total, Mitsubishi, ExxonMobil and Hoegh. In announcing the project, QP said the group is working in collaboration with Global Energy Infrastructure Limited (GEIL).

The group will work to build a floating storage and regasification Unit
(FSRU), a jetty and a pipeline to shore that will allow it to deliver natural gas to Pakistan. By 2018, the FSRU is expected to have a minimum daily regasification capacity of 750 million cubic feet.

“This consortium will bring together partners with a proven track record of
industry-leading performance and a history of delivering projects on time and
on budget, while focusing on environmental stewardship,” Saad Sherida
Al-Kaabi, president and CEO of QP, said.

The
companies are all leaders in the production, shipment and
marketing of LNG.
