Four students from Qatar University recently completed summer-long internship programs at Qatar Primary Materials Company (QPMC), which concluded with an award ceremony on Monday where students received certificates of participation and appreciation.

The internship program was designed to match the students’ theoretical knowledge with practical experience to be had at QPMC in their respective disciplines in order to better prepare them to enter the workforce after graduation.

Business administration student Ali Abdulrahman Al-Mulla took on assignments across all of QPMC’s departments and sites. Electrical engineering students Mohamed Jihad El-Jaam and Walid Saber Khamis Jaber  were involved in project management. Computer Science major Khulood Khaled Saleh interned at the IT department.

The ceremony for the student interns included keynotes from Qatar University representatives and QPMC management on the importance that both organizations place on academic knowledge combined with practical and on-site work.

The students also took part in a panel discussion led by QPMC Administration Director Latifa Al-Darwish.

Engineer Eisa Al-Hammadi, QPMC CEO, is himself a graduate of Qatar University. He said he was pleased to work with the university’s current students.

“The student has always been a growing importance at Qatar University,” Al-Hammadi said. “We are therefore pleased to have had QU students intern at Qatar Primary Materials Company. We look forward to the university’s continued commitment, under the leadership of its president Dr. Hassan Rashid Al-Derham, to ensuring that QU students gain practical experience and to boosting their interpersonal and business skills.”
