The Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development said Tuesday that

Dr. Hamad Al-Ibrahim will take over as chairman of the Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP) board.

Al-Ibrahim is currently executive vice president of Qatar Foundation Research and Development, which is based at the Qatar Science and Technology Park.

The Qatar Science and Technology Park is a nearly 300 acre free zone with dozens of major multinational tenants such as General Electric, Microsoft, Siemens, Shell, ExxonMobil, Maersk and Qatar Petroleum, as well as research institutions and incubated small and medium businesses.

QSTP officials also announced that several board members would continue their posts for three more years. They included Qatar University President Hassan Al-Derham, Qatar Development Bank CEO Abdulaziz Bin Nasser Al-Khalifa, Qatar Electricity & Water Company General Manager Fahad bin Hamad Al-Mohannadi, Qatar Petroleum Manager of Research and Technology Center Nasser S. Al-Mohannadi, ARCH Venture Partners Co-Founder and Managing Director Robert Nelsen and Tekes Director General Pekka Soini.
