Qatar to contribute $40 million to UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs

Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs recently said that Qatar has signed an agreement with the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) to provide a multiyear financial contribution of $40 million to support the office.

The agreement was signed by Qatar Fund for Development Director-General Khalifa bin Jassim Al Kuwari and UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Stephen O’Brien in the presence of Qater Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani and UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed at the17th Doha Forum, a ministry release said.

The ministry said that according to 2016 statistics from the United Nations, the State of Qatar ranks second on the list of 10 countries supporting humanitarian affairs.
