Networking with returning alumni, picking up on presentation
materials and obtaining financial resource information, Qatar University
students joined leaders and faculty Jan. 2 in Doha for the institution’s 6th
Annual Scholarship and Sponsorship Students’ Gathering.

Sponsored by the Scholarships and Partnerships (S&P) Office
and primarily orchestrated to provide students with opportunities to apply for
scholarships and graduate-level sponsorships, the QU event featured President
Dr. Hassan Al Derham and two PhD law graduates as presenters and also offered information
about the S&P office.

QU honored a total of 17 graduates with awards acknowledging
their academic achievements — consisting of five PhD recipients and 12 Master’s
of Arts (MA) degree holders.

“We are here today to listen to your experiences while
studying abroad and to give you an overview of the objectives of the
Scholarships and Partnerships Office at Qatar University,” said Al Derham. “The
[S&P] Office gives you the opportunity to pursue your graduate studies at
top universities around the world.”

S&P Office Director Cesar Wazen added that 29 QU
students were granted scholarships and sponsorships in 2016 to continue their
studies in universities worldwide.

“After graduation, you will contribute with your expertise
to adding value to Qatar University, your college, and your department,” said Al
Derham. “We look forward to maintaining a real communication between you and
the university.”
