QatarEnergy announced on April 13 a new hydrocarbon discovery in the MHNM-6 NFW well of the Moho G structure, located offshore in the Republic of Congo. The announcement was made as QatarEnergy acts as a shareholder in TotalEnergies E&P Congo, which operates the Moho exploration and production license.

The discovery is significant for QatarEnergy’s growing international presence and signals further development opportunities for energy resources in the region. The company holds a 15 percent shareholding position in TotalEnergies E&P Congo (TEPC), while TEPC itself holds a majority 63.5 percent share. Other partners include Trident Energy with 21.5 percent and Société Nationale des Pétroles du Congo with 15 percent.

His Excellency Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs and President & CEO of QatarEnergy, said: “We are pleased to further strengthen our expanding international portfolio with this promising new discovery in the Republic of Congo. We look forward to working with our strategic partner, TotalEnergies, and with the Congolese Government to develop these resources.”

According to QatarEnergy, the MHNM-6 NFW well encountered a hydrocarbon column measuring approximately 160 meters within good-quality Albian reservoirs. Data acquisition and sampling were carried out at the site to support subsurface interpretation and inform future development plans.

The results from this well are expected to contribute valuable information for future projects within the Moho license area.
