QatarEnergy hosts farewell for outgoing CEO Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al Thani

His Excellency Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs and President and CEO of QatarEnergy, held a farewell reception on December 15, 2025, to honor Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al Thani, the outgoing CEO of QatarEnergy LNG. Sheikh Khalid is set to retire at the end of this year.

During the event, Minister Al-Kaabi recognized Sheikh Khalid’s lengthy service and his leadership’s impact on QatarEnergy LNG’s development. He stated: “I have had the pleasure of working closely with Sheikh Khalid over many years, and to ensure that QatarEnergy LNG becomes, and remains, the largest LNG producer in the world. As he retires, I would like to personally thank him and to wish him the very best for the future.”

Sheikh Khalid began his career with QatarEnergy (then known as Qatar Petroleum) in 1991. Over the years he held several key positions such as Business Development Manager at Mesaieed Industrial City and Director at Ras Laffan Industrial City. In 2010, he became Chief Executive Officer of Qatargas where he oversaw its integration with Ras Gas and later guided its transition into what is now known as QatarEnergy LNG.

Effective January 1, 2026, Mr. Ahmad Helal Al-Muhannadi will assume the role of CEO. Mr. Al-Muhannadi has worked for more than two decades across Ras Gas, Qatargas, and QatarEnergy LNG. Most recently he served as Chief Onshore Operations & Support Officer following company integration.
