QatarEnergy has launched the “Tawteen Forum 2024,” a two-day event in Doha focused on expanding the inclusivity and adaptability of its Tawteen program. The initiative aims to enhance the localization of services and industries within Qatar’s energy sector.

The forum serves as a networking platform for QatarEnergy and companies participating in Tawteen’s In-Country Value (ICV) Program. It is designed to facilitate business opportunities and partnerships that support greater contributions to the local economy.

According to QatarEnergy, “The forum provides a networking platform between QatarEnergy and the companies that are participating in Tawteen’s In-Country Value Program (ICV), and to help exploring business opportunities and partnerships towards greater contributions to the local economy.”

The event also introduces an enhanced ICV Program, which features key amendments intended to broaden the scope of local contributions by all companies. A bonus scheme will reward firms for positive impacts in selected fields, aiming for a more accurate reflection of each company’s effect on Qatar’s economy.

“The forum will also provide opportunities for greater understanding of the enhanced ICV Program, which includes key amendments engineered to provide a wider scope of the local contribution for all companies, and a bonus scheme to reward companies for their positive contributions in selected fields, hence, ensuring an accurate reflection of each company’s impact on Qatar’s economy,” said organizers.

Sessions at the forum cover elements such as accreditation, future plans, best practices for increasing suppliers’ ICV, investor support, participation strategies, and QatarEnergy’s principles of conduct.

More than 4,000 participants are attending the event. The forum includes an exhibition featuring companies involved in Tawteen. Launched in 2019, Tawteen was created to develop Qatar’s energy sector supply chain and expand small- and medium-sized enterprises within the country.

Government representatives as well as engineering, contractor, and construction firms are also taking part in this year’s gathering.
