QatarEnergy secures stake in offshore exploration block S4 in Guyana

QatarEnergy has entered into a Production Sharing Agreement for Block S4, a shallow-water offshore exploration area in Guyana. The agreement was signed following the 2022 Guyana Licensing Round.

Under the terms of the deal, QatarEnergy will hold a 35% stake in Block S4. TotalEnergies, which will serve as the operator, holds a 40% share, while PETRONAS has a 25% interest.

His Excellency Mr. Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs and President and CEO of QatarEnergy, stated: “We are pleased to secure this exploration block in Guyana, further building on the strategy to expand our global upstream exploration activities.”

He also expressed appreciation for those involved: “I would like to thank the Government of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana and our partners in the block for their valued support and cooperation. We look forward to working together to deliver on our exploration objectives.”

Block S4 covers an area of 1,788 square kilometers and is located about 50 to 100 kilometers off Guyana’s coast in water depths ranging from 30 to 100 meters.
