QatarEnergy has entered into a long-term sales and purchase agreement with Buzwair Industrial Gases Factories WLL (Buzwair) for the supply of helium. The contract will run for up to 15 years, starting in September 2025, and involves supplying 20 million cubic feet per year from Qatar’s facilities in Ras Laffan.

This marks the first time QatarEnergy has established a direct partnership with a local Qatari industrial gas company. The agreement reflects the increasing capabilities and reach of regional suppliers within the global helium market.

His Excellency Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs and President and CEO of QatarEnergy, stated: “Buzwair has built a strong reputation in the helium industry. We are pleased to work with them and to expand our network of partners to include capable and trusted industrial gas companies from the State of Qatar.”

He further added: “As one of the world’s leading suppliers of helium, QatarEnergy remains committed to supporting the exciting advancements of critical industries that depend on our high-purity and reliable helium supplies.”

Helium is used in various advanced technologies and essential industrial applications such as MRI scanners, semiconductors, fiber optics, space exploration, deep sea diving, specialized welding, among others.
