QatarEnergy has entered into a 20-year agreement with Petronas to supply Malaysia with two million tons per annum (MTPA) of liquefied natural gas (LNG), beginning in 2028. The deal marks the first long-term LNG sales and purchase agreement between the two companies.

The signing took place during a ceremony in Doha, coinciding with the 21st International Conference & Exhibition on Liquefied Natural Gas “LNG2026.” His Excellency Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs and President and CEO of QatarEnergy, signed the agreement alongside YM Tan Sri Tengku Muhammad Taufik Tengku Kamadjaja Aziz, President & Group CEO of Petronas.

According to a statement from QatarEnergy, this agreement demonstrates ongoing confidence between the organizations and supports their shared vision for sustainable energy development and stronger bilateral cooperation.

Commenting on the new partnership, Minister Al-Kaabi said: “QatarEnergy is pleased to enter into this new LNG SPA with Petronas, which highlights our continued commitment to support the growing energy needs of Malaysia as well as our customers across the globe.”

QatarEnergy emphasized that this deal is part of its strategy to strengthen global partnerships and promote cleaner energy solutions while supporting economic development goals in key markets.
