QatarEnergy signs deal with EGAS for LNG supply to Egypt in summer 2026

QatarEnergy has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources to expand cooperation in the energy sector, with a focus on liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply.

The agreement was formalized at QatarEnergy’s headquarters in Doha by Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs and President and CEO of QatarEnergy, alongside Karim Badawi, Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.

During the signing ceremony, Al-Kaabi stated: “We are pleased to further enhance our cooperation with the Arab Republic of Egypt. This agreement builds on our recent successful cooperation with Egypt particularly with respect to the supply of LNG from QatarEnergy’s portfolio.”

He continued: “This MoU further strengthens our bilateral relationship as we work jointly towards additional supplies of long-term LNG from QatarEnergy to meet Egypt’s growing demand for energy to fuel its robust economic and industrial growth. We look forward to collaborating with the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and with all our partners in Egypt to further strengthen our cooperation and to support Egypt with its future LNG requirements.”

As part of the MoU, QatarEnergy and the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) have agreed on supplying up to 24 LNG cargoes during the summer of 2026. Both parties will also begin discussions regarding further long-term LNG deliveries from QatarEnergy to Egypt.

The agreement aims to address Egypt’s increasing need for energy as its economy grows.
