QatarEnergy signs first direct long-term helium supply deal with Messer

QatarEnergy has entered into a long-term sales and purchase agreement with Messer, a German-based industrial gases company, for the supply of 100 million cubic feet per year of high-purity helium. The helium will be sourced from Qatar’s facilities in Ras Laffan and distributed to global markets.

This is the first direct long-term agreement between QatarEnergy and Messer. The signing ceremony took place at QatarEnergy’s headquarters in Doha and was attended by Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs, President and CEO of QatarEnergy, as well as Bernd Eulitz, Global CEO of Messer SE & Co. KGaA. Senior executives from both companies were also present.

Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi stated: “Messer is a leading global supplier of helium with a strong reputation and diverse assets. We are delighted to enter into our first direct agreement with Messer and to continue providing high-quality helium to the world through reliable partners.”

He added: “This agreement underscores QatarEnergy’s commitment to delivering reliable resources from one of the world’s largest helium producers to support fast-growing industries worldwide.”

Helium is used in various advanced technologies such as MRI scanners, semiconductor manufacturing, quantum computing, fiber optics, and space exploration.
