R Hotels, a United Arab Emirates-based hotel management company, has appointed ANC Contracting LLC (ANC) as the main contractor for the second phase of construction on its new resort and spa in Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah.

The hotel chain also appointed Erga Progress Engineering Consultancy as a project consultant. The new 253-room hotel will be called The Palm, a nod to the name and shape of Dubai’s man-made Palm Jumeirah archipelago.

Samir Arora, R Hotels’ vice president for operations, said the hotel is on track for completion in 2016, especially after hiring ANC and Erga to work on the project.

“We have our full trust on ANC’s and Erga Progress’ expertise in their respective fields, and in delivering high standards in all aspects of the project,” Arora said.

R Hotels has invested more than $136 million into The Palm, which will include amenities such as a holistic wellness center, two restaurants and family-friendly recreational facilities. The hotel chain’s goal is to build the first four-star hotel in the upscale Palm Jumeirah that is also sharia-compliant.

“Our Palm Jumeirah property, which is our biggest investment to date, will exemplify our company’s vision of providing top-quality accommodation and facilities to our guests, complemented by top-notch service,” Arora said.
