A
road safety fair called “So you think you can drive?,” which was hosted by Carnegie Mellon University and Northwestern
University locations in Qatar, focused on the significance of careful driving.

The fair
was hosted in collaboration with other Education City universities, Qatar
International Safety Centre (QISC) and Al Khebra Driving Academy and hosted
interactive tools that allowed participants to see and actually participate in
the different elements of traveling safely.

“Road
safety is such an important topic, and I think the students learned a lot,” Amie Rollins, director of health and wellness at CMU-Q and one of the
organizers of the fair, said. “There are very simple things each of us can do to make
the roads safer.”

While
all age groups are greatly affected by the dangerous risks of traffic accidents
in Qatar, young adults are most susceptible to crashes. For that reason, each
booth at the fair featured a different display of a road safety element,
including pedestrian safety and vehicle maintenance.

Qatari streets were displayed in driving simulators to make the tests more realistic for participants.
