Dubai-based food company Saahtain Foods is sending its Tayyib brand of ready-to-eat meals to refugee camps in Southern Europe.

The Halal meals are precooked before packaging to offer food that meets all religious standards and needs no kitchen to prepare. The brand is already widely used by pilgrims visiting Saudi Arabia’s holy sites.

The Tayyib meals are purchased in bulk by U.K.-based charities and companies operating in the UAE for many refugees fleeing violence.

The British charity organization Rahma Mercy recently bought thousands of Tayyib meals to distribute to refugees in the Balkan nations. Abdul Aziz Moti of Rahma Mercy said the prepackaged meals have made a huge difference in trying to accommodate refugees.

“Tayyib meals are the most effective way to feed the refugees who are quite malnourished due to their hardship,” Moti said. “Tayyib Meals are ready to eat, Halal, nutritional and last 12 months without refrigeration. How else will they get halal food on the roads and villages of southern Europe?”

The latest shipment of Halal ready-to-eat meals is on the way to the Greek island of Lesbos, where nearly half of Europe’s refugee population is concentrated.
