On Union Pledge Day, HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), reflected on the significance of the day which marks the signing of the Declaration of the Union and the UAE Constitution in 1971. Al Tayer highlighted the vision of the Founding Fathers that laid a strong foundation for a country that anticipates and shapes its future.
“On Union Pledge Day, which commemorates the signing of the Declaration of the Union and the UAE Constitution in 1971, we proudly remember the Founding Fathers and their visionary outlook that laid the foundations of a country that knows no impossibility – a country that not only anticipates the future but shapes it with determination and capability,” said Al Tayer.
He noted how this vision has led to significant achievements for the UAE within a short period, making it an example for other nations aiming to ensure happiness and well-being for their people. He also acknowledged Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum’s roles in launching this prosperous journey, which continues under current leadership.
“The Union’s prosperous journey – which was launched by Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, may their souls rest in peace, and continues under the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and members of the Federal Supreme Council, Rulers of Emirates – emphasises that great dreams are realised through determination and dedication,” he added.
Al Tayer expressed gratitude for wise leadership on this national occasion. “On this cherished national occasion, we thank Almighty Allah for blessing us with wise leadership that has made our beloved country an oasis of security and prosperity.”
He reaffirmed commitment to honoring their legacy through hard work. “We renew our pledge to remain loyal to legacy… give back… through continued hard work… affirm unity around our wise leadership… safeguard national achievements… accomplish even greater milestones… pray to Allah to continue bless UAE with security… prosperity,” concluded Al Tayer.
