The SAMENA (South Asia, Middle East, North Africa) Telecommunications Council recently named Batelco Group CEO Ihab Hinnawi as vice chairman of its board of top executives from the region’s leading telecommunications companies.

Hinnawi’s election to the board is part of the telecommunications council’s effort to put a new leadership team in place to develop a new vision to advance the council’s influence in the telecommunications industry.

Prior to his role leading Batelco Group, Hinnawi served as the CEO of Umniah and CEO of Batelco Jordan during his more than 25 years of experience in the region’s telecommunications industry.

SAMENA Telecommunications Counci CEO Bocar Ba said the council has had exceptional leadership on the board since the past election.

“It is due to the vision and achievements of the board members that we now have a very powerful and dynamic leadership, constituted by the largest communications service providers in the region,” Ba said.

“The year 2016 has been very good so far, and under our new leadership, moving forward, I foresee SAMENA Council reaching new heights to witness an exciting future of regionwide cooperation and collaboration, and digital economic development,” Ba said.
