Khalid Al-Falih, minister of Energy, Industry and
Mineral Resources and chairman of the Saudi Aramco board of directors, recently
visited Saudi Aramco’s offices in the U.S. to disseminate the
company’s strategy to help implement Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.
This came on
the heels of Deputy Crown Prince Mohammad Al
Saud’s recent visit to the U.S. to discuss Vision 2030.
Al-Falih first visited Motiva, which is headquartered in
Houston. Motiva is a joint venture between Shell Oil Company and Saudi
Refining, which is controlled by Saudi Aramco. However, the venture is
dissolving and the assets are being split up.
“Although Motiva is out of physical sight from where I serve
in Saudi Arabia, it is always present in my mind as a valued organization with
great people and a best-in-class asset,” Al-Falih said.
Al-Falih next visited Saudi Aramco’s Houston research
center, a global research and development program, and inspected its ultrasonic
tomographic meter and downhole electromagnetic receiver wireline tool.
At ASC headquarters, Al-Falih attended a town hall to
discuss Vision 2030.
We will become a much more technology and knowledge-driven
organization,” Al-Falih said. He added that Saudi Aramco will develop a
stronger downstream business, double refining capacity, expanding into
chemicals, do more with renewables, create new technologies through its R&D
efforts and develop new business lines through investments and acquisitions.”
